What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a condition that represents a group of disorder related to inefficient metabolism of sugar. Sugar is required by the body for many purposes especially to generate energy, similar to how petrol is required by a car to move. When there is inefficient metabolism, many diseases can occur, and indeed diabetes tends to be 'multi systemic', having complications that affect the brain, nerves, heart, kidney and eyes, which are all organs that require energy. The main hormone to convert sugar to energy in the body is insulin, which is produced by the organ pancreas, and is utilized by all tissue in the body.
